São Nicolau Carnival

The Carnival of São Nicolau island has got ancient origins, such as those of the Mindelo Carnival, São Vicente island. It is the second in order of importance of the entire Cape Verde Archipelago.
The parades are remotely similar to those of the Brazilian Carnival, take place during various week-ends of February and end with the great Shrove Tuesday parade.
The carnival celebrations are a great attraction and take place along the narrow roads of the island. The celebrations allow to enjoy the Carnival atmosphere and to actively participate, without being just a viewer.
